Title of Novel: The Devil has Power

Q1. How long have you been writing? And what was the first thing you can remember writing?

I started writing when I was about six. I used to get scraps of paper, tie the edges together with string and write little stories. None, unfortunately, have survived.

Q2. Did you always want to be a writer?

Yes, but fear stopped me actually writing. It was a dream I had, I thought if I wrote and failed the dream would be destroyed.

Q3. How did you feel when you were writing this book?

It was my fifth. The insecurity is still there, but it’s a little easier now.

Q4. How long did it take to write?

Three months to write, about four to edit, rewrite, re-edit, rewrite, re-edit!

Q5. Do you have a special place where you go to write?

I have a desk in the spare bedroom, there are two windows looking out into gardens with lots of trees.

Q6. When you begin writing, did you ever think you’d get to where you are now?

No. I just wanted to have one novel that people read. Now I have five and have started my sixth.

Thanks so much for sharing with us Valerie. I wish you the best of luck with your future stories!
