Travel Tips

My Go-To Tools for Planning a Travel Adventure

I don’t know at what stage things changed, but these days booking a holiday isn’t just deciding where to go and getting the cheapest flights.

It’s a military mission.

Gone are the days where we’d book a week in Croatia and just see what happened. Now, we have a complete logistical nightmare trying to map every minute of every day to get the most out of our time away.

The decision to go to Disneyland turned into two weeks in Florida, a mini 3-night road trip, and two more day trips out of town.

  • I never really know what to do with myself in photos...

I’m not an insta perfect poser which means we generally end up with nuggets like this 🤦‍♀️😂

What do you prefer: real life or insta perfect?

  • The mornings and evenings are slowly starting to get lighter. Who else is dying for spring to arrive? 🙋‍♀️

How was your weekend? Did you manage to survive Storm Dennis unscathed?

  • Day 2 in my New York itinerary —
This dreary weather and storm Dennis is making me crave a holiday.

Whilst we hibernate and avoid the bad weather, I’ll be dreaming of New York.

May even finish doing our photobook this weekend 🤦‍♀️

  • This is a coffinette.

It’s where Tutankhamun’s liver was stored in his tomb *shudders*
—
And it’s the first time this artefact has been outside of Egypt. Creepy and fascinating.
—
The second photo is a sculpture of Horus that sat atop one of Tutankhamun’s chariots...less creepy.
—
I absolutely love Egyptian mythology. Growing up, I was obsessed with ancient Egypt and desperately wanted to be an Egyptologist. It’s a little (maybe a lot) more gruesome in real life but it’s still a fascinating civilisation.
—
I went to the Saatchi Gallery in London at the weekend to visit the new Tutankhamun exhibition they have. It’s commemorating 100 years since Howard Carter discovered King Tut’s tomb, and many of the artefacts on display have never left Egypt before.
—
It was an incredible experience that’s left me with a longing to visit Egypt.
—
If you’re interested in the exhibition, there’s a blog now live on my website 🙌

  • On Sunday, I went to the Saatchi Gallery in London to visit the Tutankhamun exhibition.
—
It was an amazing experience with so many artefacts having never left Egypt before.
—
There were 150 funerary artefacts in total, discovered by Howard Carter in King Tut’s tomb, including over 400 shabtis (small figurines of workers thought to serve the pharaoh in the Netherworld, many of which had their own miniature tools, determining which trade they would be doing in the afterlife)
—
It was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. The exhibition is in London until 3rd May before it leaves for Boston. It’s the final world tour these artefacts will make before making their way to the new museum in Egypt. —
On a side note...a distinct lack of Egyptian themed emojis out there!
—
If you want to know more, head over to today’s blog post; I share the full experience and more photos of what was on display. Link in bio.
